Got everything I needed to get started in rebuilding my first atty. However, ran into a few problems. Quite surprisingly it's more to do with the mesh then actual coiling. What dimensions should I aim for? I've already stuffed up one try (Looks like I need to get some more mesh on order). I tried around 40 by 50 mm (Was going to cut the top off after coiling) but I just couldn't get the wick small enough to fit in the hole, Frustrated I just cut it smaller until I did.
I could get the coils spaced out evenly around the wick, but the SID will fire it one time (severely top hot spotted), and then prompt LOW LOAD the next. When it did fire though, it was reading around 1.6 to 1.8ohm, So I know I'm in the right range.
However, I'm unsure on two things. Is it okay if the mesh touches on the of the center pole inside the tank? ( or does it need to be in such a way so it's only making contact with the liquid and nothing else) have and how the heck do you get the mesh to roll small enough
I've had a look at numerous videos, and to be fair they all seem to do it in a doddle easy peasy
I was going to buy the pre-made wicks on C9V, however it seems they don't stock them anymore.
